Our Camp Judaea Property Board of Directors, comprised of builders, architects and attorneys ensures that our spectacular property and facilities continue to offer a high quality environment for our camp experiences. These Camp Judaea leaders and ambassadors are constantly envisioning new and renovated facilities as well as ensuring that sufficient resources are available to bring them to realization.

Leah Zigmond, Executive Director
Leah Zigmond is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She and her family moved to Atlanta about 2 and a half years ago from Kibbutz Lotan in Israel’s Southern Arava desert where they made their home for 13 years.
Leah has a passion for Experiential Jewish Education. While in Israel Leah was the Director of Education for Kibbutz Lotan’s Center for Creative Ecology and the Associate Director of the Living Routes Semester Abroad program in Israel. Most recently Leah served as the Assistant Director at our neighboring Camp, Ramah Darom. Leah has her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Chatham University, a Master’s of Science in Environmental Science and Management from Duquesne University, and is nearing completion of her EdD in Jewish Educational Leadership at Hebrew College and Northeastern University.
Leah is married to Simon Chamberlain and they have two sons, Yaniv (12) and Amit (9) who are CJ campers. They are active members of Congregation Or Hadash in Sandy Springs. Leah is so excited to be continuing her professional career at Camp Judaea.
David Berlin, Assistant Director (ext 104)
David Berlin recently completed his eighth season on the CJ Staff having served as Assistant Director, Rosh Merakez (Head Counselor), Merakez (Unit Leader), S'Gan (Assistant Unit Leader) and Madrich, in addition to his many summers as a camper.
David graduated from Georgia State University in 2015 with an MBA in Organization Management and Leadership and in 2012 from the University of Maryland with a BA in Psychology and Human Development. He also participated in the Foundation for Jewish Camp's LaunchPad Fellowship for First-Year Supervisors and currently is in the Yitro Fellowship for rising Assistant Directors. David grew up in Miami, Florida, but currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
He's dedicated to catching the mythical fish "Mr. Whiskers" at camp and also really enjoys teaching Jewish cooking chuggim. He looks forward to meeting you and jumping into having fun at camp!
Elana Pollack, Director of Communications and Alumni Engagement
Daughter of alumni, Elana began attending CJ her Offarim year, continuing through Bogrim. The summer of 2010 Elana studied and toured Israel on the Alexander Muss High School in Israel program. In 2011, Elana returned to CJ as a counselor, and the following summer as the Drama Madricha. Elana then worked as the Head of Performing Arts in 2013, and rejoined the CJ family in 2015 as the Summer Communications Director.
Elana grew up in the small town of Vero Beach, Florida where she taught Hebrew school in the small Jewish community. Elana continued her involvement with Jewish youth as a Youth Group Advisor in Tallahassee, FL where she attended Florida State University. Graduating in May 2015 with a degree in Editing, Writing, and Media and a minor in Hospitality Management with concentration in Event Planning, Elana is excited to now be based in Atlanta with the Camp Judaea family.
Elana along with her friendly companion dog, Shirley, looks forward to seeing you at camp in one of her favorite places….the front gate on Opening Day!
Gayle Kaplan, Office Administrator (ext 100)
Gayle Kaplan, our Office Administrator, works full-time for Camp Judaea. During the academic year, she runs the office in Atlanta and then moves to camp in Hendersonville, NC for the summer season. Gayle joined us with many years of experience, both as a camp-mom and as an office administrator. Organized, thorough, and personable, Gayle is a leader in her field. Her sunny disposition is well-known among campers, counselors, staff, and parents.
Gayle lives in Acworth, GA with her husband, Seth, and her two children. Originally from South Florida, she has been a part of the southern Jewish community her whole life. Gayle is eager to answer your questions and help each camp family get the most from their summers at Camp Judaea.
Ron Means, Caretaker
Ron Means has been taking care of Camp Judaea since the summer of 2011. Ron has worked most of his life in maintenance and enjoys the variety of work at camp and the challenge of making things better than he found them.
Ron is originally from Michigan but now lives on camp year-round. He enjoys the scenery from his front porch and being up close and personal with the wildlife that occupies camp in the off-season. Ron and his late wife, Carole, have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren.
Robert Durmire, Assistant Caretaker
Robert Durmire is a native of Hendersonville NC. He and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters, Holly and Cassie, and two grandchildren, Jax Paul and Brynnline Alyssa.
Becky Borak, Inclusion Coordinator
Becky Borak has over 16 years of teaching experience within the special education field. She has worked and continues to work with students in the Mild/Moderate/Severe Intellectual Range and serving a multitude of disabilities such as; Down Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Prader Willi Syndrome, Fragile X, Landau Kleffner Syndome, and many more.
Becky is a highly qualified and certified educator with an undergraduate degree in Intellectual Disabilities from The University of Georgia. She also has a Master’s degree in special education from Kennesaw State University. She has been practicing behavior therapy for three years.
Becky supports families and children with special needs and provides one-on-one behavior therapy services for individuals with special needs. She is a lifelong Judaean who began going to Camp Judaea in 1985 and has been a dedicated alumna since 2002. Her two children, Haiden(11) and Elissa(9), continue the love of CJ by joining Camp Judaea during the summer.
Leah Pollock, Bookkeeper (ext.112)
Leah Pollock joined the CJ team in March 2015. She has been a bookkeeper for over 18 years and serves several clients in the Atlanta area. Leah was born and raised in Los Angeles until going to school in New York where she attended Stern College and Hunter College. Leah currently lives in Dunwoody, GA with her husband, Mordechai and their children.
