2014 Financial Aid Opportunities

2014 Financial Aid Opportunities

Dear CJ Families,

We have put together a list of potential grant and financial aid opportunities available to our families. While this list does not include everything, we hope this will help the process of finding financial assistance to send your child(ren) to camp this summer.

Camp Judaea Campers

Camp Judaea offers a limited amount of need based scholarship to registered 2014 families on a payment plan.   The application is online at http://www.psas.org/CJUD.aspx.

Deadline: February 26, 2014

Round Two Deadline: April 18, 2014

Camp Judaea and Young Judaea have an improved scholarship process this year. This new process is intended to make it easier for our families and help the scholarship committee get a clearer picture of individual families’ needs. You will only need to fill out one application per family, and that application will cover all participants in ANY Young Judaea program (Camp Judaea, Israel Programs, Tel Yehudah). Private School Aid Service (PSAS) will be administering the application and providing the scholarship committee with an assessment of a family’s financial situation. There is an application fee of $25. This application fee need only be paid once per family and will apply to all Young Judaea programs (if you have a child attending CJ and another at TY/Yearcourse/Machon, the same fee covers all the applications).

(Please note that the beginnings of the application makes several references to “School”, it really refers to Camp and will be updated shortly. You also need to select the 2014-2015 Year and will need to know what session your child’s attending to proceed with the application.)

Hadassah also offers limited scholarships as well. The Hadassah scholarship committee will consider the same application form that is submitted for the Camp Judaea and Young Judaea scholarships. To apply for a Camp Judaea scholarship, please visit http://www.psas.org/CJUD.aspx. To be eligible for a Hadassah scholarship, you must be a member of Hadassah.

If you have any questions about this process, please call 404.634.7883 or email david@campjudaea.org.

Other Opportunities

Please check with your local synagogues and Federations for opportunities that may be available to your family. If you know of any opportunities that are available, but not listed here, please email David Weiss at david@campjudaea.org.

Reminder: Most granting agencies that award funds on a needs basis want to know that families have made arrangements with CJ to cover a portion of the tuition prior to applying for scholarship. If you have not already, please ensure that you have a payment plan with camp that covers a good portion of your balance. When applying for assistance, agencies will want to know that you have approached multiple sources for assistance. Besides the places below, synagogues and Jewish Family Services are also good places to try. Please let us know if there are sources other than those listed here that may be able to assist families in getting their children to CJ for a camp experience. We understand this can be confusing and frustrating at times. We would like this process to be as easy as possible. If you have questions regarding the scholarship process, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 404-634-7883 or info@campjudaea.org.
